Autologous Skincare

We are always looking for new ways to keep our skin looking youthful, hydrated, and healthy. This can sometimes be accomplished with over-the-counter skincare products; however, over-the-counter products and even high-end skincare products cannot always provide rejuvenation because they are not produced with you in mind.

Autologous skincare products combine properties from your PRP with quality ingredients to enhance and strengthen the look and health of your skin.

What Is Autologous Skincare?

Autologous skincare uses an individual’s growth factors and biomolecules to enhance rejuvenation. Autologous skin therapy is commonly used in cosmetics to stimulate healing and improve skin quality.

What Are the Benefits of Autologous Skincare?

Autologous skincare:

  • Does not cause allergic reactions
  • Is unlikely to cause infection
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Is derived naturally from the body

What Are the Types of Autologous Skincare?

Autologous skincare is any product that has been personalized and enriched by your growth factors and biomolecules.

Autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an ingredient found in and separated from your blood. When PRP is applied to or under the skin, it helps to tighten, smooth, and improve skin tone and texture.

To obtain PRP, a sample of blood must be taken from your arm. This sample is run through a centrifuge (spun) twice. The first cycle removes the red blood cells; the second cycle separates the platelet-rich plasma from the platelet-poor plasma (PPP).

PRP contains high levels of growth factors that restore skin health and stimulates collagen production.

SoME™ Skincare

SoME™ Skincare, from Aesthetics Biomedical, offers PRP-enhanced skincare. The combination of PRP with their all-natural proprietary skincare ingredients reduces wrinkles and renews dry, aged, or pigmented skin.

Autologous Skin Substitutes

Some skincare companies offer products that have been combined with plant stem cells instead of your cells. While these do provide benefits, they are not autologous, and will not provide the same level of results and are not truly personalized.

What Is the Autologous Skincare Process?

Because autologous skincare has the added ingredient of your growth factors and biomolecules, you will need to see your medical provider in order to obtain the blood sample.

Once the PRP is obtained, it is combined with the base ingredients of your skincare to create a personalized at-home skin product.

There is no downtime or recovery period for this treatment, and you will receive your autologous skincare as soon as you complete this process.

What Do the Statistics Say About SoME™?

In a split-faced pilot study that compared SoME™ base ingredients with SoME™ and PRP, 98 percent of patients who applied SoME™ twice a day saw a visible improvement to their skin tone and texture that was treated with the autologous PRP addition.

What Are Some Frequently Asked Questions About Autologous Skincare?

Can I use someone else’s SoME™ Skincare?

No. Your SoME™ is autologous skincare, meaning that it is derived from you, for you. No one else will benefit from—or should use—your SoME™ Skincare.

Are stem cells more powerful than PRP?

PRP and stem cells are similar in the fact that they both have healing properties and they can both be a beneficial addition to your skincare. PRP contains a high volume of growth factors that reduce inflammation and stimulate the body—or the skin—to heal. Stem cells can renew and regenerate tissues and organs.

Even though stem cells have more healing properties and powers than PRP, PRP is still an effective addition to your skincare practices.

Are there any possible side effects with autologous skincare?

Because autologous skincare is derived from your cells, there is virtually no chance of rejection, allergic reaction, or irritation. Autologous skincare requires a blood sample. If there is any reason that you cannot have or do not want your blood drawn, this treatment may not be right for you.
